Coaches
and Dad want our youth baseball players to hit the ball hard and hit
the ball better, so we quickly start to run through our heads the
mechanics of the swing that we have heard or learned about. It is
usually harder than we thought it would be so we start scouring the
internet and our friends for baseball hitting tips for our
youth baseball player or team.
Learn to hit the ball
better and hit the ball hard !

As a
youth baseball coach I have a few rules I introduce and maintain thru
practices and games. These rules relate directly to the basic
baseball skills needed by youth baseball players to learn the game
and have the most fun.

Rule 1
- Always Watch the Ball

Coaching Youth Baseball | 4 Concepts for Coaching Youth Baseball

On the surface the real job of a baseball coach seems easy to
identify, win baseball games. Put the right players in the right
positions, build team chemistry, and motivate them to win. However
difficult building a championship caliber team may be, it?s only one of
the jobs a baseball coach has. In fact, it should be the last task on
the coach?s list. When I first began coaching, I made the mistake of
thinking that I was teaching how to play baseball. I was wrong! What I
should have been doing was setting an example and teaching kids how to
build a foundation to be successful in life. I learned that during every
practice, and every game you have the distinct opportunity to make an
impact on you players.

How would you like to suddenly be the most feared and respected coach or player in your league?

Should your child play up in youth baseball

The question of should younger players play up comes up every year.
By “playing up” I mean allowing kids to play in an age group older than
where they’re supposed to play. There really is not an answer that will make everybody happy. Kids develop youth baseball skills at different rates, so
each situation should be looked at individually.
What makes a good coach | Coaching Youth Baseball

Coaching Youth Baseball | What Makes A Good Coach

How do you determine whether if a game, practice, or youth baseball season is successful? Most think it is winning,if your
first thought is winning, then we really need to take a look at your
priorities at coaching youth baseball and as a youth baseball coach.

Wins and losses only determine success at the professional level. The
pros are paid to play baseball and they are expected to win. If your players
aren’t getting paid to be on the field, then your success has nothing to
do with winning.

We believe a record of wins and losses should never determine success in
youth baseball. As coaches,it is our responsibility to the game of baseball
is to create a positive, organized, fun environment that promotes
the love for baseball within our players. Success is solely determined by
whether or not the experience is enjoyable for the kids and whether or
not they learn something. MOur goal has always to be sure they are learning something in youth baseball and everyone has different levels of learning but should come away with something from youth baseball practices and games.

If the kids are having fun and learn some things about playing baseball, we should feel very good about ourselves as coaches.

The new year is almost here, and that means a lot of people are thinking
hard about resolutions. If you’re resolving to be a better coach in
2011, here are some goals you can focus on, regardless of the age group
you are coaching.
Using a video camera in youth baseball for coaches and players

Youth Baseball Coaches should use a video camera as much as
possible, especially in youth baseball hitting drills and youth baseball
pitching drills.

Letting the players see themselves take a few swings
or pitch in slow motion and/or frame by frame is the only way to go if
you are really looking to break down mechanics properly.

Rotational Hitting | Rotational Swing | Rotational Hitting Baseball Swing

Rotational Hitting is an approach to hitting that
				was
			  first
			  described by Ted Williams and
			  then popularized by Mike Epstein.
Rotational Hitting is generally about learning to power
              the swing
with the entire body -- and in particular the large
muscles of the core
-- rather than just the arms, wrists, and hands. While
teaching a hitter Rotational Hitting will sometimes result in
increased power and Home Runs, in general the idea
is to just try to hit the ball hard since a hard-hit ball
-- even if it is hit on the ground -- is harder to make a
play on
				simply because it's moving faster.
