Louisville Slugger TPX Dynasty Youth
For over 120 years now, the
Louisville Slugger continues to be the most recognized in the baseball bat
industry. And the story of the
Louisville Slugger TPX Dynasty and ExoGrid for youth baseball players would never have come to pass if not in 1884, a 17
year old named John
A. "Bud" Hillerich. Bud’s
father, J.F. Hillerich, owned a woodworking shop in Louisville in the 1880’s. Bud had snuck away from work early one day
and went to see a baseball game in which Pete Browning of the Louisville
Eclipse, the local pro team, had been mired in a hitting slump.
When Browning errantly broke his bat, it was all the
incentive that Bud would need. He
approached Browning, and urged him to come with him to his father’s woodworking
shop so that they could discuss the possibility of Bud’s father designing and
creating a new bat for Browning. With
Browning at J.F. Hillerich’s side giving him advice, Hillerich hand crafted the
first Louisville Slugger that afternoon in 1884.
In seven of the past nine years, the NCAA World Series title
has gone to teams that have used Louisville Sluggers. And they are setting the stage once more to
be one of the frontrunners with youth baseball bats again in 2008. Enter the TPX Dynasty series. The Alcoa Company, who happens to be the
number one supplier of aluminum tubing for baseball bats, and Louisville
Slugger have recently combined their talents and technology to create a new
alloy called ST+20. This new alloy has
added additional strength to the bat’s design and has also added enhanced performance
and increased durability, based on results of recent field testing.

ST+20 is commonly used in aerospace technology and
provides the TPX Dynasty models with a 20% stronger alloy. The addition of this alloy proves to afford a
marked improvement in balance, durability, performance, and the sweet
spot. No doubt, this is the main reason
that Louisville Slugger touts “Performance Products for Championship
Performances.”

Comments:
“TPX is
a good solid bat for the money. These bats are much cheaper than an Easton. They have very
good pop at first, but tend to die a little towards the end of a season. A lot
of college baseball teams use this bat.” --- Gary LaGrone, Loves Park, IL
“We have
used TPX for four years and found it to be a good bat that holds up well. We
have just ordered a new TPX for 2008 and I'm confident that it will be as good
as our old bats.” --- Chip M., Nashville,
TN
